Lifetime Achievement Award
Connie Regan-Blake is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for dedicating her life to the art of storytelling and for demonstrating meritorious service to the National Storytelling Network, as well as to the community of storytellers at large. One of the first to bring storytelling to the national stage, Connie is recognized for raising public awareness of storytelling, preserving traditional art forms and for the significant originality of her life's work. (National Storytelling Network 2006-2007)

Southern Artistry Designation
The North Carolina Arts Council honored Connie in 2006 as a designee for the Southern Artistry, an adjudicated, online registry of outstanding artists, performers and writers.

Circle of Excellence
One of the first to receive this prestigious award honoring storytelling artists, Connie Regan-Blake is “recognized to be a master storyteller who sets the standards of excellence in the storytelling field.” (National Storytelling Association, 1996)

Performer of the Year
Awarded by the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival, the nation’s oldest continuously operating folk festival (1985)

Distinguished National Service - Oracle Award
For exemplary service and significant contributions to America’s storytelling community. (National Storytelling Network, 2001)

Storyteller of the Year
Awarded by the North Carolina Storytelling Guild for “Significant and Exemplary contributions to storytelling and to storytellers.”

Mountain Sweet Talk: A Two Act Play
Along with Barbara Freeman, Connie co-wrote, produced, and starred in Asheville’s longest running theatrical production. (1986-1992)

Tales of Appalachia: For piano trio and storyteller
Collaborated with the Kandinsky Trio and composer Mike Reid to create ‘The Cantankerous Blacksmith’, an original classical work, touring the nation since 1995.

Designated as an ambassador for storytelling at the International Storytelling Center, Jonesborough, TN
