“People are hungry for stories. It is a part of our very being.”
-- Studs Terkel, author and oral historian

Can you remember a time when someone close to you shared a story that moved you, made you laugh, changed your mind or blew open your heart? How powerful and fun it was when a father took the time to really share why he vowed never to play sports again after only two high school football practices. Or a friend recalled a memory that offered some healing in a time of grief. Or a business facilitator told just the right story to illuminate the moment.

Our memories can go unexplored and the timeless wisdom they offer us is sometimes unrecognized. We are often so busy taking in images and information on TV, movies and other media, that we can underestimate the impact and value of telling our own stories with real listeners. Breathing life into our stories can support us and encourage growth - personally, professionally, artistically, and spiritually.

“Give people a fact or an idea and you enlighten their minds;
tell them a story and you touch their souls.”
Hasidic proverb

Telling stories is as natural and vital as taking a breath! And this weekend workshop welcomes everyone: those curious about storytelling, those who want to go deeper into the craft and those who simply love stories.
During the weekend you will:

  •  Discover your innate capacity as a storyteller
  •  Find stories that speak to you
  •  Learn how to ‘embody’ those stories
  •  Draw on personal and cultural images and memories in shaping narrative
  •  Cultivate and enjoy the bond that forms between teller and listener

As a teacher, Connie Regan-Blake invites deep listening and telling on many levels. Her approach is welcoming, powerful and fun; and her teachings can be useful in the corporate world, with family and friends or on stage. During the weekend, she will guide us in remembering our personal triumphs, losses, regrets and joy and in using our senses, imagination and intuition. We will have the opportunity to work on a short, easy story that we can take home and tell right away. Together, we will create an encouraging, playful and appreciative community as we learn through oral exercises, movement activities, and story-partnering.

Join us in a celebration of stories and creativity.
